Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cardamom
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar for dusting
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, ginger, cardamom, and cloves.
  • In a separate bowl, cream the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add the vanilla extract to the butter mixture and mix well.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
  • Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  • Flatten each cookie slightly with the bottom of a glass.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
  • Remove from the oven and let cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
  • Dust the cooled cookies with powdered sugar before serving.
