Ingredients
  

  • 1 large onion
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • Oil for frying
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions
 

  • Peel the onion and cut off the top and bottom.
  • Make vertical cuts down the onion, leaving the base intact.
  • In a bowl, mix flour, paprika, garlic powder, cayenne, salt, and pepper.
  • In another bowl, whisk eggs and buttermilk together.
  • Dip the onion in the egg mixture, ensuring it’s well coated.
  • Roll the onion in the flour mixture, covering all petals.
  • Heat oil in a deep fryer to 350°F (175°C).
  • Carefully place the onion in the oil, frying until golden brown.
  • Remove and drain on paper towels.
  • Serve with your favorite dipping sauce.
